Assignment: Adjunct Faculty
Focus: At the Salem Campus I focused on teaching Kent Core classes in geography including; Introduction to Geography lecture, Geography of the U.S. and Canada lecture, and Physical Geography Lab and Lecture. I work closely with Dr. Sarah Smiley and Dr. Rebecca Parylak to develop the course lectures.

Assignment: Graduate Student Teaching Assistant
Focus: As a graduate student teaching assistant I worked with Dr. Rebecca Parylak to develop and teach the Kent Core Physical Geography Lab. I also assisted Mr. Anthony Carlucci’s Geography of Wine course by pouring wines, grading quizzes and exams, and cleaning up after class.

Focus: I completed Federal and State Mining Permits, which required me to stay up-to-date on all the federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the mineral extraction industry. I worked alongside a diverse group of technicians, surveyors, engineers, and geologists to complete permit applications, while keeping the client’s mining specifications in mind.

2006 – 2008: PENN-OHIO COAL COMPANY (Kimble Clay & Limestone), Dover, OH
Assignment: Environmental Technician
Focus: As an environmental technician in the mineral extraction and sanitary landfill industries. I was responsible for staying up-to-date on all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the mineral extraction and sanitary landfill industries. I completed soil, leachate, and surface and ground water sampling for analysis. I also reviewed, organized and submitted the analyses to the proper regulator agency. While at Kimble I also participated in professional development courses including; Ohio Environmental Protection Agency Wetland Grasses, Rushes, Sedge Course and SurvCADD Training Course taught at Kent State University Tuscarawas Regional Campus.

2005 – 2006: RURAL ACTION/HUFF RUN WATERSHED RESTORATION PARTNERSHIP

Assignment: AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer
Focus: As an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer I focused on public engagement and awareness. This included organizing monthly meetings, contributing to the quarterly newsletter, presenting at schools and civic groups, and organizing hands-on school visits to learn about the watershed, the annual community awareness days, and creating the Environmental Explorers children’s group at the village library. I also assisted the Ohio Department of Natural Resources in collecting water quality data. During this time I also participating in the Ohio Watershed Academy, Water Quality Sampling Refresher course, and attended the Applied Research Conference.
