FAQs about GISjobs.com

For Employers

Q: Do you charge for job postings?
A: Yes. We charge $50.00 USD for a 30 day ad. You can also get a 60 day ad for $80.00 or a 90 day ad for $100.00. We have discount options available for companies that plan to post many jobs either all at one time or over a span of time. Contact us for more details on those plans. All job ads run for their specified display period and then are automatically de-activated. You can login again and re-activate them if you wish. You will have to pay to re-activate your listings - same as a new post. We may occasionally offer different or discounted rates/display periods. Listings that are deleted or de-activated prior to the end of their display period will not receive refunds and typically can not be re-activated without another payment. Contact us for what to do in these situations.

Q: Do I have to pay to post a job listing for an internship?
A: No. Simply post your internship job listing as you would any other job and then contact us asking for your free internship activation and we'll activate it for you from here.

Q: How do I pay for my job postings?
A: You can pay online via PayPal with a credit card or we can invoice you. The fastest way to get your job online is to use a credit card as it is activated immediately. You can also call us with your credit card information if you don't or can't use PayPal. If you choose to be invoiced for your postings, we manually activate your ads when we receive notice of your agreement to our payment terms of net 30 days. Typically that happens within an hour or so, but please allow up to 24 hours in some cases. We do not require your payment to activate your job listings. The online version of your invoice found in the Billing section of your employer account is the only copy you will receive. It is your responsibility to submit this invoice to your company for payment. If you need a copy of your invoice, you can find it in the Billing section of your employer account. NOTE: Prior to calling us with payment information, please go through the process of activating your listing and choose to be invoiced. That way, your invoice is in the system and we can mark it paid when you call.

Q: Do I have to register and login to see resumes?
A: No. All of the data on GISjobs.com is available to anyone who uses our site. You will need to register as an employer and log in to contact job seekers, post jobs, set up alerts, or save resumes to your account. Registration is free and easy.

Q: Will you post my jobs for me?
A: Sure. Contact us and we'll take care of them for you for no extra charge. We are happy to help you.

Q: Can I edit or delete my job ads myself?
A: Of course. You simply login to your account and find the desired listing and do what you need to do. You can do this any time. If you delete or de-activate your listing before the original post period has expired, you will not receive credit for the unused display time.

Q: How do people apply for my jobs?
A: You specify the apply method in your ad and applicants follow your instructions. You need not return to GISjobs.com after posting your ad unless you want to make changes.

Q: Will my job listings be on GISjobs.com social media outlets?
A: Yes, all job listings are automatically listed on our X and Facebook pages when they are activated. Please allow at least 30 minutes for them to show on those pages.

A: Typically we do not, but if you have multiple ads to post, you can contact us and request a discounted price. We may be able to work with you.

Q: Aren't you GIS Jobs Clearinghouse?
A: No. We understand that our names are similar, but we are not affiliated with the GIS Jobs Clearinghouse in any way. Both sites provide similar services, but are separate entities.

For Job Seekers

Q: Do you charge for resume postings?
A: No, resume posts are free. They remain active for 90 days and then are automatically de-activated. If you wish to re-activate your resume, all it takes is a couple of clicks.

Q: Can I post more than one resume at a time?
A: Yes, post as many as you wish if your abilities or interests cover more than one job category or if you believe that having more posts will help you in your search. More than likely, one at a time will be enough. We reserve the right to edit, deactivate or delete any or all information or accounts we feel are being abusive of our services.

Q: Do I have to register and login to see the jobs?

Q: How do employers contact me?
A: Via whatever method you specify. Tell them how to contact you and they will do that directly. In order to protect your email address from unsavory types, we have implemented a system where employers use a contact form to email you. This way, they won't see your email address unless you list it in your resume post. Unless you list your contact information for all to see and use, employers must use our online forms to send you a message. This message will be relayed through GISjobs.com to the email address you used for registration. It's a good idea to assume that whatever you post is available to anyone using GISjobs.com, some of whom may try to contact you with offers that are too good to be true or offers that are not real. Be aware that there are people out there who you might not want to have all of your contact information. It may be a good idea for you to post only a Gmail email address and no cell phone or personal email address to prevent any unwanted contacts from getting too many of your contact details. GISjobs.com will never sell or share any of your contact information and if you receive any messages from organizations saying they are affiliated with GISjobs.com, do not believe them. Post your data at your own risk.

Q: Will my resume be on GISjobs.com social media outlets?
A: Yes, all resumes are automatically listed on our X and Facebook pages when they are activated. Please allow at least 30 minutes for them to show on those pages.

Q: Can I post my data anonymously?
A: Yes. If you post your resume anonymously, employers can see your online resume but not your profile or social data. Any contact from employers will be relayed to your email address from GISjobs.com.
