Geomorphic site assessment of Mesa Creek from 1937 to present at Sondermann Park, Colorado Springs, CO, November 2022 Summary:
Examined Mesa Creek, a small urban stream in Colorado Springs, CO, with a multidisciplinary approach to understand the impacts of urbanization. Our results were presented to the city of Colorado Springs and at the GSA Connects 2022 conference.
Key Contributions:
• Georeferenced historic aerial imagery & historic vegetation cover analysis with ArcGIS.
• Classified reaches of the stream using the Rosgen classification scheme & ArcGIS hydrology tools.
• Examined several quantitative metrics of channel complexity using ArcGIS, Python, & R.
