GIS Manager, Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology (MBMG), Butte, Montana

The Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology seeks a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Manager to supervise and coordinate production of digital maps and associated databases. The position is a Bureau Professional Practice Faculty (non-teaching) at the Associate Professor or Professor level.

The successful candidate will be expected to supervise and lead production of high-quality digital maps that meet a variety of digital standards; supervise and lead maintenance, updates, and archiving of geochemical, geochronology, and specimen databases associated with the geologic mapping, geologic hazards, and economic geology programs; supervise GIS staff and students; and oversee organization and release of maps and associated data to the public via the MBMG website.
Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree plus 8 years’ experience or Ph.D. plus 5 years’ experience in GIS, Geography, Geology, or closely related field.

MBMG is a part of Montana Technological University, located in the Heart of the Rocky Mountains along the Continental Divide. We are home to the largest National Historic District in the country, and Butte's outdoor recreational opportunities are both varied and vast.
