Provide assistance with the development and support with TRG GIS activities and projects including those associated TRG clients. Perform model analysis for oil spills and air plumes. Coordinate map creation for sub-sea and air plume modeling, emergencies, tactical plans, drill preparation, IAP material, exercises, and other industry specific maps in and out of the office. Potential to attend agency or client-driven meetings to generate GIS data. Provide end-product input and suggestions where needed. Maintenance and support of the Common Operational Picture as required.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide support to other TRG Departments as directed.
Participate as a response member for immediate emergency response deployment as needed.
Be available for planned and unplanned exercises as directed.
You have a responsibility to respond/answer all TRG & Client communications.
Develop proficiency in the IAP Software and a basic understanding of spill trajectory, modeling, and GIS mapping/COP.
Develops and ensures accurate and professional deliverables for clients.
Basic understanding of TRG products and services.
Position Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Create a variety of map products on a daily basis.
Compile maps using data from multiple data sources in various formats (Geodatabases, Web Services, Live data feeds).
Produce oil spill trajectories and air plume models for planned or unplanned events.
Use modeling software such as RPS-ASA OILMAP, Breeze, Adios, Aloha and Gnome to predict movement and provide mass balance calculations.
Member of a 24/7 GIS on-call support staff.
Potentially coordinate and conduct internal training for GIS or Oil Spill trajectories as required.
Maintains the teams goals and quality control throughout project development and completion.
Continuously seek and suggest new approaches to GIS leadership including, but not limited to practices and processes to improve the quality and efficiency of the GIS team.
QA/QC all work products.
Act as a consultant on behalf of TRG to field and provide solutions to clients questions and issues related to TRGs GIS Services.
Interpret client requests, including but not limited to GIS, IAP, Training, etc. and ensure deliverables are evaluated and have met client expectations.
Serves at the direction of the GIS Lead and performs additional duties as required.
Mainly sedentary sitting for extended periods of time.
The position may require extended hours beyond the normal working hours to meet company objectives.
Regularly required to lift up to 10 pounds, frequently lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
Vision requirements include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Minimum of 25% travel may be required throughout both domestic and international.
Qualifications and skills:
Intermediate knowledge and capability to work with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office applications required.
Basic knowledge or experience with ArcGIS Desktop Suite preferred.
Experience and familiarity with field data collection methods preferred.
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to defuse tension within project team or between teams, should it arise.
Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Industry specific knowledge in disaster or emergency response a plus.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science in GIS or other technically related field required.
1-2 years related professional experience preferred.
GIS certification preferred.
