GIS Technician - Electric Utility (Remote, 1099)

We’re seeking experienced GIS Technicians to join our contract team supporting electric utility GIS operations. In this role, you’ll work within the Esri platform to maintain, edit, and update electric distribution network data in a production environment.
Contract: 1099 (Independent Contractor)
Location: Remote (U.S. only)
Hours: Must be available during U.S. Eastern Time core business hours
Key Responsibilities
Edit and maintain electric distribution network data using ArcGIS Pro.
Process, interpret, and integrate work orders into GIS systems.
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across GIS datasets.
Follow established GIS standards, workflows, and QA/QC procedures.
Collaborate with a distributed technical team and communicate progress clearly.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of GIS experience within an electric distribution utility environment.
Strong proficiency with Esri ArcGIS (Pro required; ArcMap a plus).
Familiarity with work order management and as-built workflows.
High attention to detail and ability to work in high-volume production environments.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote team.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Reliable computer and internet connection; ability to work ~40 hours/week remotely.
Must be able to pass a background check.
Must be located in the United States.
