Thesis: AN ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE OF PRECEDING PRECIPITATION ON THE SIGNATURE OF BALTIMORE’S SURFACE URBAN HEAT ISLAND

• Utilized the Landsat Satellite series to study the Surface Urban Heat Island (SUHI) in Baltimore, Maryland using 16 satellite images from 1994 to 2016
• ArcMap (GIS) and TerrSet were used for image processing and geospatial analysis
• Land surface temperature (LST) were calculated for each image and regressed on different environmental indices (NDVI, NDBI, NDWI)
• Statistics (maximum, mean, min, Getis-Ord*) were calculated for all images to see changes in LST throughout Baltimore
