AZ, USA

Highly experienced IT professional transitioning to the field I’m passionate about, GIS and Mapping. I bring real world analytical experience and creative ways to introduce GIS into fields otherwise devoid of spatial analytics. The analytical and problem solving skills I use in IT can be directly translated to GIS application and study.

Education

• Bachelor of Science - Geographic Information Science and Cartography
• Geographic Information Science (Certificate)

Projects & Training

Fire timeline project January 2023
Created a timeline app of five years of wildfire data to show areas affected by wildfires during that times pan. The final project included data filters, a timeline player to visualize data at different times, and the ability to click on points for additional information. Used ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS online, and ArcGIS experience builder to create this project.
Methodology:
• Utilized ESRI ArcGIS Pro to extract a subset of the data (five years) from 2010 to 2015 and exported the selection to a new shapefile with all data fields.
• Uploaded new shapefile to ESRI online content, enabled time settings, and added to a new ESRI ArcGIS Online map.
• Configured the layer property symbology and used a graduated symbol (manual breaks).
• Imported the map into ESRI ArcGIS Experience builder and added a timeline app with filters to show the changes in wildfire locations.
