Mr. Schmidt is involved in the wide array of consulting services that EDR offers, including comprehensive planning, land use analyses, and downtown revitalization. His responsibilities specifically include assisting both our municipal clients and private clients in the creation of Tax Increment Financing areas, Business Districts, Enterprise Zones, and Community Improvement Districts. His work provides him with intimate knowledge regarding establishing, and successfully implementing, these economic development programs within a wide range of communities and markets. Mr. Schmidt is responsible for EDRís presentations of these programs to municipalities, taxing districts, the public and interested developers.

Mr. Schmidt also brings significant academic training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and computer assisted cartography to the business of economic development. Mr. Schmidtís expertise extends throughout the ESRI ArcGIS suite of programs, to which he keeps current through his participation at various national conferences and webinars. His skills also include creating three dimensional models, and various internet-based materials, which are used by our clients in marketing their projects.

Prior to joining EDR, Mr. Schmidt had worked for the Department of Geography at the University of Missouri as a Research Specialist. His responsibilities included the creation of custom cartographic products, interactive online mapping applications, research concerning expanding the use of GIS for urban planning, and quality control/quality assurance (QA/QC) for the Departmentís cartographic products.
