The City of Rochester invites applications for:

Geographic Information System - GIS - Seasonal Opportunity*
(Summer 2018)

The Public Works Department, as a division of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, is responsible for planning, programming, design, constructing, and maintaining public works facilities. This includes street infrastructure, street lighting, traffic control, sanitary and storm water, water main, and waste water treatment facilities, as well as on-street and off-street parking, and coordination of mass transit modes.

The Public Works Department is seeking individuals interested in summer employment with the City GIS Group

This job posting will remain open until the vacancy is filled.

Pay Scale:
$13.50 to $16.50 per hour depending on education/experience.

Work Schedule
Normal hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Duties may include:
•Georeferencing approved plans for reference in ArcMap
•Metadata creation and updates for Public Works GIS datasets
•Updates to Public Works GIS datasets
•Map production, as requested
•Assistance testing field devices with the City of Rochester's Asset Management System
•Various other tasks, as assigned or required

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
Completion of at least one year of college or technical school in a field related to Geographic Information System (GIS), Geography, Geology, Environmental Science or related field with a demonstrated interest in GIS.

Licenses and Certifications
Valid driver's license

Additional Requirements
Post-secondary grade point average of at least 2.5
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs with emphasis in Excel for the purpose of data manipulation
