Geospatial Specialist/sUAS Program Capability Developer

Woolpert, Inc. seeks a Geospatial Specialist/sUAS Program Capability Developer to work onsite in proximity to Kelly Field, in San Antonio, supporting the Air Force’s GIS (GeoBase) program operations office. sUAS Program Capability Developer will ensure customer objectives and requirements are met or exceeded, while assets are available to meet program operations tempo. The Pilot must also ensure a safe flying environment by adhering to all directives, regulations and procedures, and planning and executing all mission tasks. The candidate must hold a current FAA, Part 107 sUAS Remote Pilot certification. Must currently hold or be willing to earn a USAF SUAS-Operator certification and earn or be able to identify team members that should be appointed a USAF SUAS-Instructor certification. Must be willing to study and learn USAF Manuals and Instruction documents. Must have knowledge and experience of post-processing imagery and analyzing geospatial data.


Advise and assist the customer on all matters pertaining to the daily operations involving the sUAS
Possess extensive knowledge of several sUAS systems, and experience with rotary sUAS platforms under 25lbs.
Have a significant interface with customer personnel at all levels, excellent communication skills both oral and written.
Primary tasks are program development and remote pilot.
Provide onsite remote pilot expertise in daily flight operations, responsibility for all safety aspects on ground and airborne, maintaining certification currency, briefing customers on system capabilities, and coordinating operations with appropriate agencies.
Be proficient in the use of technical publications, company publications, and sUAS to diagnose and address maintenance and malfunctions.
Provide team leadership for any anomalies or emergency situations within the ground control station.
Provide advice and assistance on the use of and interpretation of DoD manuals, technical orders, engineering change proposals, and other related technical publications.
Provide clear and concise mission data elements and be able to translate into monthly reporting formats, as well as any local civil authority reporting requirements.
Provide liaison through which information related to aircraft and operational problems can be quickly disseminated to operational and maintenance personnel.
Position Requirements

Excellent communication skills, systems troubleshooting, fault isolation/diagnosis and the ability to read, comprehend and follow technical data, including drawings, schematics, blueprints, etc.
Must be willing to travel occasionally and accept assignments to any location for domestic or international flight missions.
Experience operating multi rotary sUAS
Experience with Geographic Information systems (GIS)

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in a related discipline to Geography, Social Science, Engineering and Aeronautics.

Special Considerations:

Experience post-processing imagery collected from sUAS
Imagery and LiDAR Course work, and/or experience
Master’s Degree from an accredited college in a related discipline.

Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP)
SMS, BUILDER Level 1 and Level 2
