GIS Manager (IS Manager 1)

Information Services is the central IT department supporting all divisions of the Metropolitan Council. Our 140 team members provide technology, practices and innovative solutions that enable the core services of the Council.

How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region:

The GIS Manager leads and supports the Information Services GIS team and projects. This people first manager will create clear direction and foster a collaborative work environment with highly engaged employees. Duties will include strategic planning, coaching and performance management, workforce planning and hiring, and establishment of goals and priorities. Oversees software and/or hardware selection and implementation related to the ARCGIS system. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with external stakeholders and oversees MetroGIS collaboration.

Full salary range: $42.03 per hour ($87,422 annually) - $68.21 per hour ($141,877 annually)

The starting salary will be based on the selected candidate's experience, skills, education, and internal salary equity, and includes a generous benefits package.

This position is eligible for a hybrid (both remote and onsite) telework arrangement. Candidate's permanent residence must be in Minnesota or Wisconsin.

What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications):

High school diploma or GED AND ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology or a related field (e.g., enterprise network, application development, geographic information systems) INCLUDING three (3) years of experience leading people and/or projects that demonstrates skill in coordinating and monitoring the work of project teams and /or staff.

Note: Highest completed degree in the following majors: Computer Science/Engineering, Information Systems, Geographic Information Systems, Management, or related field will count towards the minimum ten (10) years of required work experience.

- Associates degree counts as two years of experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher counts as four years of experience

Experience for all the above equivalencies must include at least three years of experience leading people and/or projects that demonstrates skill in coordinating and monitoring the work of project teams and/or staff.
