SCOPE OF ROLE:

This role requires a passion for working with GIS technology and fostering strong customer service relationships to achieve our mission of serving as a responsible steward of the environment and a beneficial partner to the communities in which we operate. As a valued member of our team, you will work collaboratively to provide support and technical assistance in a fun, dynamic and fast-paced work environment. You will be responsible for managing quality GIS data, as well as inventory and planning data input, data query and analysis, and map products. The service you provide is foundational to our business and has a significant impact on key decisions we make including sustainable yields, harvesting scheduling, silviculture treatments, long-range planning, land sales and acquisitions.

This role will be responsible for supporting Rayonier's Pacific Resource Unit in Washington State and Oregon.

Location: Poulsbo or Hoquiam, WA preferred; with the ability to work remotely from home in Washington or Oregon. (Within commuting distance from one of our offices: WA: Hoquiam, Poulsbo, Chehalis or Forks OR: North Bend)

Travel: 10% of time spent in other forestry field offices within the Pacific Resource Unit.

HOW YOU WILL SUCCEED:

Make safety a way of life and commit to “standing in the gap” and fixing it when you see a potential safety risk
Provide accurate and timely processing of the LMS stand inventory layer (stand actualization).
Collaborate with the GIS Team to define and refine data & system workflows/procedures including updating the formal documentation
Utilize a system of quality control/assurance tools & processes to verify spatial/tabular data and rectifying errors. Will need to work with field staff to fix data issues that need to be field verified.
Develop and lead efforts of improving accuracy of LMS data layers and tables (i.e. road reclassification, stand delineation). This includes one-time projects and ad-hoc updates.
Lead GIS and data analysis & mapping support across the Pacific Resource Unit. This includes bulk loading of LMS activities.
Provide technical support for acquisitions and large land depositions
Develop and lead the training and support of technical aspects of LMS. Act as the first point of contact for GIS related systems, pointing users to the correct resource as needed
Provide technical support for IT related products, elevating to help desk when appropriate
Lead LMS system testing efforts. Act as the primary conduit of system enhancement requests for GIS related systems.
Commit to continuous learning, generating innovative solutions in work situations; trying different and novel ways to deal with work problems and opportunities while keeping up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise.
HAT IS REQUIRED:

BS degree in computer science, GIS, geography, forestry, or related natural resources field with emphasis on use and application of GIS technology. Or equivalent experience
One or more years of GIS experience with ArcGIS software. Education may substitute for experience. GIS (spatial and tabular) analytical experience preferred.
Understanding of mapping systems and cartography, GIS and database management systems operations, working knowledge of geoprocessing; interpretation of aerial imagery and post-processed remote sensing data; effective communication skills and good analytical skills and judgment.
