Geospatial Technical Manager

The Geospatial Centroid at Colorado State University is seeking a part-time Geospatial Technical Manager.

Tasks of this position will include: working with IT staff in the Library to manage and maintain the Centroidís computer systems (hardware and software); create a FOSS4G (open source geospatial) infrastructure in the Centroid; assist in developing and teaching technical workshops; provide technical support to interns and clients; develop best practices instructional materials; and oversee outreach to other technical experts. Additional projects may include: 1) serving as a liaison to other Colorado institutions (university libraries) to contribute CSU-produced spatial data to a statewide consortium that is developing a platform for delivering spatial data, and 2) working on cross-campus intiatives to promote university research and outreach through interactive maps.

The Geospatial Centroid at CSU provides essential services to CSU, the regional community, and numerous partner organizations by promoting, exploring, examining, and implementing geospatial sciences. Housed in the Morgan Library, the Centroid serves as a resource for geospatial education and training; spatial data discovery, generation and sharing; and cartographic and digital map creation services. The Centroid organizes numerous activities and events related to the geospatial sciences. Most importantly, the Centroid promotes emerging research areas involving GIS. The Centroid works closely with research faculty and students to provide guidance on the unique characteristics of geospatial data and analyses.
