GIS Technician II

Chesapeake, VA, USA
The Planning Department is seeking a GIS Technician II as part of their Planning Management Support Division. This position works with the Planning Administrator and IT GIS on a centralized system to support geospatial technology usage department-wide.

General duties include:
-Synthesizing a variety of GIS data for use in analysis and mapping products
-Working within the established QA and QC processes to ensure accuracy of data
-Producing cartographic products for reports, meetings, and presentations
-Conducting a variety of geoprocessing and GIS analysis tasks
-Managing maps and data in ArcGIS Online, and producing web maps/apps for special projects
-Multi-tasking and providing GIS support for end-users
-Being a proactive member of project teams, both inside and outside of the department
-Coordinating GIS functions and uses with other departments, agencies, consultants, and citizens

Specific duties include:
-Addressing assignment support to Address Coordinator
-Development tracking with Chesapeake's e-Build system
-Technical support to Planning Commission

Experience with ESRI's ArcGIS suite and ArcGIS Online
Good interpersonal communication skills

Bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience in geographic information systems or a closely related field.

Minimum of three years of related, full-time equivalent experience.

Valid driver's license and a driving record in compliance with City Driving Standards.

Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
