Absolute attention to detail and the ability to assimilate and examine large data sets is also fundamental to the role and familiarity with Microsoft Word, particularly styles & formatting, mail merges, incorporation of pictures etc. to produce professional looking user guides. Our Central Government Client is looking for a Python Developer to work on a project initially until the end of March but could be extended until the end of May. This role is based in Central London and is an immediate start.

A government data portal runs its catalogue of data on an open source software called Ckan and its non catalogue Front End based in Drupal. The data portal is undergoing a re-haul at the code and brand level, integrating both (Ckan, which is Python based, and the Drupal interface) as well as adding improvements to the way in which the site functions overall, the bulk of the changes have to be in place by April 2012. The team currently works with the Ckan team to provide support for the running of the catalogue and oversee/facilitate code improvement.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
*This role will work to the head project manager to document the structure, configuration and customization of the instance of the Ckan software currently being re-developed, acting as the key point for knowledge transfer of the current and future catalogue instance.
*The Ckan team engagement ends in March 31st 2012, these roles will serve as a bridge between the current team and the future team to be put in place May 2012
*As the project is run under Agile processes, the developers will also lead on assigned tickets taking part, as assigned, on aspects of the re-building of the catalogue instance.
*The primary role will be that of documenting the build as we go along. This role will also own the criteria for documenting changes and functionality.
*There will also be input into the drafting of rules and processes for the site.
*We are looking for experienced developers who are able to document a very complex system and to be able to dive in and help with the code when the situation requires it.

As a member of SeaSpace’s Apex High Resolution team you will develop and implement advanced SAR processing algorithms and data exploitation tools - primarily for satellite-based SAR sensors.

·         Required Education/Experience: Five (5) years of related experience or have a Master of Science Degree and Three (3) years of experience or have a PhD and possess One (1) year of   experience
·         Desired Education/Experience: College degree in EE, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related technology field. Prefer 10+ years experience as applicable to all key facets of radar technology: research, development and implementation (e.g., hardware, software, data, data analysis, system acquisition), and the ability to work with legacy, mature, and emerging systems technologies, deployments, and implementations. 
·         Required Skills: Proven experience in RF system engineering having extensive experience in radar, SAR in particular, and the associated electro-magnetic phenomenology. Familiarity with the extended SAR community, both Government and commercial. Excellent interpersonal skills, and effective oral and written communications skills. Must have a strong background in digital signal and/or image processing, mathematics, and software development. Must be proficient in C++, C, shell scripting, and Java. Experience with SAR image processing is preferred, including stripmap and spotlight modes and related processing. Ability to conduct research study and develop custom algorithms. Application programming experience under Linux/Unix and Windows environment is essential.
·         Key Functions: This position involves serving as the senior lead for SAR image processing and exploitation at SeaSpace. In this role you will work to improve or develop new SAR image formation and exploitation algorithms and tools for advanced interferometry, polarimetry, bistatics, change detection, automated feature extraction, and materials characterization for a wide range of space-borne SAR sensors. All tasks require detailed knowledge of the characteristics and capabilities of current and soon to be deployed commercial SAR systems, foreign and domestic, and a solid technical understanding of the algorithms that serve as the basis for various commercial and Government developed SAR processing software tools.
·         Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work constructively and collaboratively in a team environment;  
·         Highly self-motivated, self-directed individual and keen attention to detail; ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.

1. To provide technical sales support, training and consultancy services, including application development/prototyping and demonstrations to potential and existing customers in support of sales of Envitia’s products and services.
2. The role will involve significant travel across the USA and Canada, sometimes at short notice, as well as an occasional requirement for some international travel.

DUTIES:

1. Support both technical & non-technical clients at all levels of seniority, in order to establish confidence in all areas of Envitia specialist expertise and to enhance Envitia’s reputation.
2. Support the sales team with custom demonstrations and technical level presentations.
3. Provide technical input and guidance for RFP’s and other customer bids.
4. Provide technical input and guidance in support of partner bids.
5. Provide software system requirement analysis for clients and prepare written reports and proposals with technical and marketing support where necessary.
6. In conjunction with the client, design write & test programs to a defined user requirement for a specific application area and demonstrate the application to the clients’ satisfaction.
7. Installation & post installation activities which might include advisory work, plans, consultancy, development and support for customers.
8. Provide internal analysis and intelligence reports on prospects’ existing technology and competitor solutions.
9. Ensure that client technical queries are actioned & completed to the satisfaction of the client & Envitia operating procedures.

Job Summary

The Institute for Health & Aging (IHA) is an organized research unit at UCSF.  The work of the Institute includes extensive and successful research, training and public service in the areas of aging, health, and health policy.  The Special Unit for Technical Assistance (SUTA), a team of public health researchers and specialists located in Sacramento, is collaboratively supported by the IHA and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).  SUTA provides technical assistance to public health programs at CDPH, in the areas of geographic information systems (GIS), data and statistical analysis, spatial analysis, public health informatics, IT infrastructure design, business process analysis, project management, and program evaluation.

 

This position will provide day-to-day support for GIS functions, including updating data layers, cleaning data layers, trainings, webinar development, geocoding and data sharing needs with local partners.  This position will assume responsibility for implementing an expanded scope of GIS targeting, training, analytic, and reporting and documentation activities. This position is necessary in view of increasing demand by local partners who need the information for targeting and accountability purposes, as well as demands for increased functionality with the current GIS Viewer.  Extensive work is required to find and adapt other suitable low-income data bases needed by Network and UC-FSNEP local partners and approved by USDA for targeting purposes.   The position will support applied research projects that map low-income persons such as those using Food Stamps or other means-tested poverty programs.  This also allows for unique training opportunities in areas of GIS skills, which assists in long term support of the GIS Viewer.

Job Description

 

The goal of this project is to enhance public health and health equity in land use planning and policy making. This will be accomplished through providing data, a standardized set of statistical measures, and tools for planning healthy communities and evaluating the impact of land-use, policy, and environmental changes on health. A set of healthy community metrics provides a common framework for linking health to the community environment, including that impacted by land-use decisions. The framework and indicator set can thus help cities/counties and regional partners develop plans and programs that meet the broader sustainability and equity goals and objectives of the Strategic Growth Council (SGC). The framework and indicators will help to better inform local and state policy makers regarding the potential positive or adverse health impacts of policy and planning decisions, to facilitate more informed decision-making and better plans and programs, and facilitate local health department engagement in planning for healthy communities.

 

As part of an analysis team, the incumbent will assume responsibility for reviewing the literature on indicator projects, individual indicators, data sources, evidence that links the indicator to health outcomes and health inequity, and research new indicators; synthesize literature and criteria for selecting indicators. Will contribute to the design of a project meta-database; manage the data base including writing queries to generate lists and reports on the status of indicators; and document the database in a written technical document describing its structure and contents (i.e. data dictionaries). Will also be responsible for acquiring data in machine readable format; downloading data from websites and media; organizing and documenting file organization; aggregating data using SAS, Excel, MS Access according to specifications in the meta-database; documenting steps in aggregation in a how-to manual; visualizing data using tools in MS Office suite and ArcGIS; researching and applying statistical principles for estimation of confidence intervals, standard errors and their stability consistent with confidentiality and appropriate use of data; assisting with administrative arrangements to acquire non-public data via commercial vendors, non-profit organizations, and government agencies via MOUs, contracts, or other agreements; documenting project activities in technical reports, including how-to manuals and illustrative reports for users of indicators. Assisting and coordinating with Regional Progress Report indicators project and other Strategic Growth Council data-related groups; develop project work plans; arrange webinar to present indicators and how-to do manual and illustrative document. Arrange follow-up and provide technical assistance at up to 6 locations, document how indicators will be used by stakeholders, and document process and findings of outreach efforts.
