GIS Specialist

Clovis, NM, USA
Position is responsible in setting up and maintaining the local Geographic Information System (GIS) database, identifying the City’s public infrastructure available on location maps as well as assisting other departments with GIS applications.

Typical Duties
Develop maps utilizing PC based (ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro) GIS for the whole City of Clovis streets, sewer lines, drainage system, and dumpster locations as well as Police, Fire and other applications as deemed necessary.

Create and maintain online maps via ArcGIS Online
Collect GPS data in the field and convert into GIS data for specific locations of interested objects within the City.
Build a GIS network in coordination with the appropriate City staff to make the City maps available to various City Departments.

Participate in the City's Public Works Committee meeting, Planning & Zoning Committee meeting, and other meetings if requested, to provide GIS data.

Maintain integrity of GIS data

Create statistical reports for information purposes as needed.

Coordinate with GIS personnel of other governmental entities for data sharing.

Train other department staff in the basic steps required to perform GIS functions.

Perform other related duties as required by the IT Specialist.

Maintain adequate communication with IT Specialists on all aspects of ongoing GIS projects.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience in Geographic Information System, computer science, cartography or geography.

Sufficient understanding of the ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro core modules to perform data entry, editing and map development at an intermediate, productive level.

Other experiences would be acceptable if they are directly related to municipal utility mapping and website maintenance
Licenses and Certificates

Equivalent or higher of a New Mexico Class “D” driver’s license.
